Portman Dental Care, Booth Street

Authority: Manchester City Council

Proposed Development:

Listed building consent and planning sought for the change of use of the ground and basement floors from beauty spa (sui generis) to dentist (Class E).

Planning Issues:

In September 2020, the English Government made radical changes to the Use Class Order, changing dental practices to Class E.  However, there are no permitted changes from sui generis and as such a change of use application was required.  There were requirements to demonstrate that access was available to disabled persons and that adequate storage and safe disposal of the clinical waste would be conducted.

Result:

KEW Planning provided information within a quick timeframe, providing client updates regularly and ensured a delegated decision within 5 weeks.

This was the first time we worked with KEW Planning and we were impressed with their constant efforts on the project and the delivery of a great result.”
